Retrieve current library documentation for a coding workflow.
Authentication and rate limits depend on the selected setup; verify the current service plan before relying on sustained usage.
Compare GitHub MCP Server, Playwright MCP and Context7 by task, client support, transport and requirements. Follow their official setup sources.
An MCP server exposes tools or information through the Model Context Protocol. The shared protocol does not make all servers interchangeable: repository actions, browser interaction and library documentation solve different tasks.
| Server | Main use | Requirement to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| GitHub MCP Server | Repository workflows | GitHub authorization and repository scope |
| Playwright MCP | Browser interaction | Node.js and local browser configuration |
| Context7 | Library documentation | Hosted service setup and authentication |
Read the exact client instructions on the card. A local stdio configuration and a remote HTTP connection are different setups. Check how the server is launched or reached, which identity is used and which tools become available. A server using MCP is not automatically documented for ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code or Perplexity.
A skill can describe how to perform a task with resources; a server supplies a tool interface. Installing one does not automatically install the other. The skill or MCP guide helps choose the missing capability, while the browser workflow comparison separates Playwright MCP from the Webapp Testing skill.
Open the official guide and check client prerequisites, account access and service limits. API usage, hosting and the AI client can have separate charges. Unknown pricing is not a free offer. Validate a small representative task in your own environment; this catalog reports documentation rather than runtime tests.
For the reviewed clients, inspect Codex MCP tools and Claude Code.

Connect an assistant to GitHub repository, issue and pull-request workflows.
Grant only the GitHub permissions your workflow needs; host authentication and repository access remain separate requirements.
Let an MCP client inspect and operate web pages with Playwright.
Requires a supported Node.js and browser environment; browser automation access needs deliberate permission controls.
