Inspect a local web application with browser automation.
Needs an accessible local application and browser dependencies; it does not certify every target environment.
Compare browser tools with workflow instructions for Claude Code. Understand how Playwright MCP and Anthropic Webapp Testing differ in setup and purpose.
Playwright MCP exposes a browser tool interface to an MCP client. The Anthropic Webapp Testing skill provides instructions and resources for a browser-testing workflow. Choose the missing capability rather than assuming they are the same addition.
Use an MCP server when the client needs browser actions. Inspect the skill when the client already has the required tools but needs a repeatable testing process. The skill does not automatically install the MCP server; the server does not automatically supply the skill's workflow.
The reviewed Playwright MCP configuration includes local runtime and browser requirements. The skill has its own resources and dependencies in the official Anthropic folder. Both have documented Claude Code context; other clients should be checked on the individual cards.
The table below uses the same published purpose, compatibility, connection and pricing facts as the cards. It is not a benchmark, score or practical installation test. Unknown costs remain unknown. Read the official source and validate a representative browser task in your environment.
